Phil is a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators and was the Training, Accreditation and Education Supervisor in Urology at Western Health from 2012 until 2018. He has been the Program Secretary and convenor for the Asia Pacific Prostate Cancer Conference and the Prostate Cancer World Congress since 2013. Phil is the Director of Robotic Surgery at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and trains visiting international fellows in robotic surgery as part of the robotic surgery program.

Phil is on the Board of Directors of the Australian Medical Robotics Academy, a not-for-profit organisation established in 2017. He is a faculty member and has been a key contributor in the development of the robotic surgery curriculum, which incorporates on-line learning with simulation, anatomical models and live surgery.
